Evolution of freshwater Diaporthomycetidae (Sordariomycetes) provides evidence for five new orders and six new families

Kevin D. Hyde et al.

Summary: The study identified the genus Cancellidium as belonging to Diaporthomycetidae, a subclass of Sordariomycetes that is exclusively found in freshwater. Several new taxa, including Aquapteridosporaceae, Cancellidiaceae, Bullimycetaceae, and Pseudostanjehughesiaceae, were introduced, all of which are known to be unique to freshwater environments.

Two novel species and two new records of Distoseptispora from freshwater habitats in China and Thailand

Hong-Wei Shen et al.

Summary: Four Distoseptispora taxa were collected from China and Thailand during investigations into freshwater fungi from the Great Mekong Subregion. Two new species were introduced based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses, while two known species were reported for the first time in freshwater habitat. Illustrations and descriptions of these taxa were provided, along with comparisons with extant taxa in the genus.

Additions to Distoseptispora (Distoseptisporaceae) associated with submerged decaying wood in China

Wen-Li Li et al.

Summary: Three aquatic hyphomycetous taxa were collected and isolated from the Lancang River in northwestern Yunnan Province, China, and identified as two new species belonging to the Distoseptispora genus. Phylogenetic analyses and morphological characteristics were used to determine the placement of these newly collected taxa, with two distinct clades identified within the Distoseptispora species.

Summary: The study surveyed freshwater species resembling Annulatascaceae, identifying 23 new taxa including 5 new genera and 18 new species. These findings have provided updated insights and new discoveries in the taxonomy of the Annulatascaceae family.
