Two-gap time reversal symmetry breaking superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric LaNiC2

Shyam Sundar et al.

Summary: In this study, a mu SR investigation of a noncentrosymmetric superconductor LaNiC2 in single-crystal form was reported. The unambiguous orientation of single crystals enables the determination of the absolute value of the magnetic penetration depth and the vortex core size, revealing the presence of two nodeless superconducting energy gaps. Weak internal magnetic fields in the superconducting phase were detected, confirming the time-reversal symmetry-breaking superconducting state and suggesting a unified pairing model for LaNiC2 and the centrosymmetric superconductor LaNiGa2.
