Abundance and Seasonality of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) in Two Suburban Localities of South Mexico, With Implications for Wolbachia (Rickettsiales: Rickettsiaceae)-Carrying Male Releases for Population Suppression

Azael Che-Mendoza et al.

Summary: This study conducted a baseline characterization of Aedes aegypti abundance and seasonality in two suburban localities of Yucatan, Mexico. Three distinct periods were identified: low population during the dry season, population growth and peak abundance during the rainy season, and a decline in population after the peak. It suggests the feasibility of developing and implementing time-specific actions as part of an IVM approach incorporating novel technologies with classic insecticide-based approaches for vector control.
