Molecular engineering and morphology of polyurethane elastomers containing various molecular weight of macrodiol

Shazia Naheed et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of polyurethane elastomers based on H12MDI/1,2-ethanediol with different molecular weights of polycaprolactone diols as soft segments were successfully synthesized by a two step technique. The crystallinity and hydrophilicity of the polymer films increased with longer soft segment chain lengths. Moreover, the degree of micro-phase separation was found to increase with higher molecular weights of polyols, as confirmed by XRD diffractogram results.

Epoxy/polyurethane hybrid nanocomposite coatings reinforced with MWCNTs and SiO2 nanoparticles: Processing, mechanical properties and wear behavior

Hamed Bahramnia et al.

Summary: This study introduced a novel approach to fabricate hybrid polymer nanocomposite coatings, demonstrating that the addition of an appropriate amount of nanoparticles can improve the coating's performance in terms of hardness and wear resistance. However, excessive nanoparticles negatively impact the samples' pull off strength, hardness, and modulus of elasticity.
