High visible light photocatalytic activities obtained by integrating g-C3N4 with ferroelectric PbTiO3

Tingting Xu et al.

Summary: Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is considered a promising photocatalyst, but its high recombination rate of charge carriers is a challenge. This study successfully optimized the photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activities by constructing a PbTiO3/g-C3N4 heterostructure, utilizing the ferroelectric properties of PbTiO3 for efficient charge separation.

High-Throughput One-Photon Excitation Pathway in 0D/3D Heterojunctions for Visible-Light Driven Hydrogen Evolution

Bo Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a high-throughput one-photon excitation pathway by constructing carbon dots/porous carbon nitride nanovesicles heterostructures for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, achieving significantly improved performance. The enhanced performance is primarily attributed to the high-throughput and one-photon excitation pathway, leading to effective spatial separation of electrons and holes.

Role of Dopants on the Local Electronic Structure of Polymeric Carbon Nitride Photocatalysts

Jian Ren et al.

Summary: Polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) is a promising material for solar-to-chemical energy conversion, and its photocatalytic activity can be enhanced by incorporating heteroatoms like sulfur and iron. This study used X-ray absorption spectroscopy and resonant inelastic X-ray scattering to show that sulfur mainly impacts carbon atoms while iron mainly alters nitrogen sites in PCN. The research also revealed a vibrational progression at the nitrogen K-edge, influenced by iron doping, indicating a vibronic coupling between excited electrons and C-N stretching modes in PCN heterocycling rings.
