A systematic review on the effect of Ginger (Zingiber officinale) on improvement of biological and fertility indices of sperm in laboratory animals, poultry and humans

Majid Gholami-Ahangaran et al.

Summary: Ginger has been shown to enhance semen quality and increase fertility of sperm through its antioxidant and androgenic properties. It improves sperm parameters such as count, viability, motility, morphology, DNA integrity, and hormone levels. Further clinical trials are needed to assess the safety and clinical effects of ginger on different species, and monitoring of health indicators and biochemical changes is necessary for dose and duration determination.

Phytobiotics to improve health and production of broiler chickens: functions beyond the antioxidant activity

Motoi Kikusato

Summary: Phytobiotics, also known as phytochemicals or phytogenics, have various biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and transcription modulating effects. They have beneficial effects on chicken growth promotion, even though their bioavailability is low. Their overall effects on intestinal barrier functions, inflammatory status, gut microbiota, systemic inflammation, and metabolism are not solely attributed to their antioxidant activity.
