Protograph LDPC-Coded BICM-ID With Irregular CSK Mapping in Visible Light Communication Systems

Lin Dai et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on achieving spectrally efficient transmissions in visible light communication (VLC) systems using the bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative demapping and decoding (BICM-ID) framework under color-shift-keying (CSK) modulation. Key technologies such as protograph low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, bit-to-symbol mapping schemes, and constellation labeling rules in higher-order CSK-aided VLC systems are investigated. The proposed irregular-CSK-mapped BICM-ID employing new protograph LDPC codes and Target constellation demonstrates outstanding performance and promising transmission solutions for high-speed VLC applications.

URLLC for 5G and Beyond: Requirements, Enabling Incumbent Technologies and Network Intelligence

Rashid Ali et al.

Summary: The tactile internet (TI) is considered a promising advancement in the Internet of Things (IoT), focusing on real-time interactive techniques and ultra-reliable low latency communication services. The introduction of the 5G new radio (5G NR) technology by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) aims to enhance network intelligence and reliability, with machine learning techniques playing a crucial role in designing intelligent network resource allocation protocols for 5G NR URLLC requirements. The use of federated reinforcement learning (FRL) is proposed as a potential solution for achieving URLLC in 5G NR, with identified future use cases for enabling URLLC in 5G NR.

Design of Polar Codes in 5G New Radio

Valerio Bioglio et al.

Summary: Polar codes have been chosen as the channel coding scheme for 5G systems, with a focus on rate flexibility and low decoding latency. The tutorial describes the encoding process of polar codes adopted by the 5G standard and the challenges faced in designing a family of polar codes to meet the demands of 5G systems. The efforts have resulted in an elaborate framework that applies novel coding techniques to provide a solid channel code for NR requirements.
