Sand bath assisted green synthesis of carbon dots from citrus fruit peels for free radical scavenging and cell imaging

Krishna Kanthi Gudimella et al.

Summary: This study reports a sand bath assisted strategy for synthesizing fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) using citrus fruit peels as a renewable green resource, overcoming the need for alkaline or acidic synthesis environments. The CDs showed excellent water solubility, superior optical properties, and significant free radical scavenging activity, making them promising as biological labels for cellular imaging.
