Efficient Reprogramming of Canine Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells into Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells

Kazuto Kimura et al.

Summary: This study developed an efficient strategy to generate ciPSCs from canine PBMCs by adding small-molecule compounds in the medium. The generated ciPSCs demonstrated pluripotency characteristics, maintained a normal karyotype, and could differentiate into cells from three germ layers. This method provides a potential tool for disease modeling and regenerative medicine in veterinary field.

Chromatin accessibility in canine stromal cells and its implications for canine somatic cell reprogramming

Maria Questa et al.

Summary: By conducting ATAC-seq analysis on canine stromal and pluripotent stem cells, we discovered that the barriers preventing reprogramming of adult stromal cells to iPSC may be attributed to differences in chromatin accessibility landscape, providing a theoretical basis for targeted improvement of canine somatic cell reprogramming in the future.

Non-viral Induction of Transgene-free iPSCs from Somatic Fibroblasts of Multiple Mammalian Species

Summary: The study demonstrates the derivation of iPSCs from somatic fibroblasts of multiple mammalian species using a combination of chemical compounds and NTI episomal vectors. Interestingly, the fibroblasts temporarily acquired a neural stem cell-like state during the reprogramming process. This method shows great potential for facilitating stem cell-based research with various animals in Mammalia.
