Review of thermal and environmental performance of prefabricated buildings: Implications to emission reductions in China

Sisi Yu et al.

Summary: Prefabricated buildings have become more prominent recently, offering significant benefits such as emission reductions on a large scale and high-accuracy manufacturing of building components. Even though the proportion of prefabrication in China is lower compared to many developed countries, the contribution of prefabricated buildings to emission reduction in China has been recognized. The thermal performance of prefabricated walls has a significant impact on buildings' energy consumption and environmental performance, with studies showing the energy-saving potential of prefabrication based on life cycle analysis and thermal performance evaluation. Future research should focus on the thermal performance of prefabricated walls with different structures and develop a more comprehensive understanding of energy performance in prefabricated buildings.
