Crystallodon Alvarenga gen. nov., a new genus of the Auriculariales from the Neotropics

Renato Lucio Mendes Alvarenga et al.

Summary: Researchers rediscovered Heterochaete subgelatinosa in the Atlantic forest of North-eastern Brazil and proposed a new monotypic genus, Crystallodon Alvarenga gen. nov. Morphological and molecular data suggest that H. subgelatinosa is not closely related to other species studied with modern methods.

The Hidden Wood-Decaying Fungal Diversity: Rhizochaete from East Asia

Zi-Rui Gu et al.

Summary: Wood-decaying fungi, including the newly proposed species Rhizochaete fissurata and R. grandinosa, play important roles as decomposers in forest ecosystems. These two new species are distinguished by their morphological features and molecular evidence. Phylogenetic analyses show that they are closely related to other species within the genus Rhizochaete.

Additions to the Knowledge of Corticioid Xylodon (Schizoporaceae, Hymenochaetales): Introducing Three New Xylodon Species from Southern China

Kai-Yue Luo et al.

Summary: Three new wood-inhabiting fungal species, Xylodon gossypinus, X. macrosporus, and X. sinensis spp. nov., were identified in southern China, with distinct morphological features and basidiospore sizes. Phylogenetic analyses placed these species within the Schizoporaceae family in the genus Xylodon, showing relationships with other known Xylodon species.

Discovery of Three Novel Cytospora Species in Thailand and Their Antagonistic Potential

Jutamart Monkai et al.

Summary: In this study, three new species of Cytospora were discovered in Thailand, showing some antagonistic activity against plant pathogenic fungi. Cytospora chiangmaiensis, C. phitsanulokensis and C. shoreae are distinct new species in the Cytosporaceae family.

Novelties in Fuscosporellaceae (Fuscosporellales): Two New Parafuscosporella from Thailand Revealed by Morphology and Phylogenetic Analyses

Nattawut Boonyuen et al.

Summary: Asexual morphs of freshwater fungi have been found in tropical and subtropical regions, with two new species, Parafuscosporella ellipsoconidiogena sp. nov. and P. obovata sp. nov., discovered in a conserved forest in northern Thailand. These novel species are differentiated from known species based on morphology and were classified using DNA phylogenies.
