Internet use and mental health problems among older people in Shanghai, China: the moderating roles of chronic diseases and household income

Summary: The study shows that elderly people who use the Internet more often have significantly lower odds of experiencing mental health problems. Further analysis reveals that chronic diseases and household income play moderating roles in mental health problems, with chronic diseases significantly increasing the correlation between Internet use and mental health issues. Additionally, Internet use is more effective at reducing mental health problems in the low-income group compared to the high-income group.
