Classification and seismic fragility assessment of confined masonry school buildings

Summary: This study focuses on the seismic assessment of school buildings in high seismicity areas, highlighting the importance of appropriate taxonomy system and analytical method for fragility assessment. By studying existing school databases and conducting field investigations in Guwahati, the majority of school buildings were found to be confined masonry type. The research also presents a method for nonlinear static pushover analysis of these buildings and discusses the influence of performance indicators and intensity measure on resulting fragility functions.
