User Perceptions of Different Vital Signs Monitor Modalities During High-Fidelity Simulation: Semiquantitative Analysis

Samira Akbas et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical applicability of the Visual-Patient-avatar technique through simulated emergency scenarios and highlighted its strengths and limitations. The results suggest that the Split Screen modality, when combined with numerical data and accurate curves, enhances situation awareness. Suggestions for improving the design and the need for training prior to clinical implementation were also emphasized.

Avatar-based patient monitoring in critical anaesthesia events: a randomised high-fidelity simulation study

Tadzio R. Roche et al.

Summary: The study found that split-screen monitoring was non-inferior to conventional monitoring in performing critical tasks during anesthesia crisis situations. Avatar-based patient monitoring improved verbalization of the correct cause of emergencies but was associated with lower perceived usability compared to conventional monitoring.
