Core-shell nanofibers from poly(vinyl alcohol) based biopolymers using emulsion electrospinning as drug delivery system for cephalexin drug

Meera Moydeen Abdul Hameed et al.

Summary: Electrospun nanofibers loaded with cephalexin and with core-shell structures were prepared, and cross-linked by heat treatment to prevent disintegration in water. Molecular interactions between polymeric chains and the drug were analyzed using various methods, while the formation of the core-shell structure was confirmed through microscopy techniques.

Fabrication of biohybrid electrospun nanofibers for the eradication of wound infection and drug-resistant pathogens

Badr M. Thamer et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated biohybrid mS/PVA nanofibers with potent antibacterial activity, with the main chemical components being 1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid, phenylmalonic acid, and pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine-1,4-dione. These nanofibers exhibited potential bactericidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and drug-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis.
