Anisotropic surface-enhanced Raman scattering in shape-controlled Ag microcoils

Xu Zhao et al.

Summary: This study for the first time observed SERS in helical Ag structures with micrometer dimensions, investigating the geometry-dominated anisotropic SERS effect by controlling the shape of Ag microcoils and proposing a new model for hot spot formation in Ag microcoils, which should aid in the development of improved SERS substrates.

Electroless deposition via galvanic displacement as a simple way for the preparation of silver, gold, and copper SERS-active substrates

Oleksandr Volochanskyi et al.

Summary: Plasmonic substrates can efficiently enhance the local electric field, crucial for various applications including chemical sensing. Wet chemical fabrication process was used to produce a series of Ag, Au, Cu SERS-active substrates, and corresponding layer growth mechanisms were discussed. The study confirmed that the tested deposition solutions are suitable for producing large-area SERS-active substrates with reasonable Raman enhancement for sensing applications.
