Lipase Immobilization on Macroporous ZIF-8 for Enhanced Enzymatic Biodiesel Production

Yingli Hu et al.

Summary: The immobilization of Aspergillus niger lipase on macroporous zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (M-ZIF-8) showed higher enzymatic activity, thermal stability, and reusability compared to conventional ZIF-8. Moreover, using ANL@M-ZIF-8 for biodiesel production led to a higher fatty acid methyl ester yield.

Impact of the size effect on enzymatic electrochemical detection based on metal-organic frameworks

Yi Feng et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising carriers for enzymes and other biomolecules due to their stability, selectivity, and controllability. However, enzyme-MOF complexes often result in decreased enzyme activity and substrate affinity. In this study, enzyme-MOF composites were synthesized using ZIF-8, with adjusted sizes leading to enhanced substrate affinity and enzyme activity, showing potential for efficient biosensors in biomedicine.

Immobilization of alpha-L-rhamnosidase on a magnetic metal-organic framework to effectively improve its reusability in the hydrolysis of rutin

Deqing Wang et al.

Summary: The study successfully immobilized Rha enzyme on magnetic MOFs for rutin hydrolysis, achieving higher activity, lower K-m value, and improved reusability. This indicates that magnetic MOF-immobilized enzymes are feasible biocatalysts for converting low water-soluble flavonoids.

Three-dimensional ordered magnetic macroporous metal-organic frameworks for enzyme immobilization

Yuxiao Feng et al.

Summary: A novel magnetic amino-functionalized ZIF-8 with highly ordered macroporous structure was successfully synthesized using PS nanosphere monoliths as a template, and catalase molecules were immobilized with high efficiency and loading capacity. The immobilized CAT showed 500% higher activity than CAT/ZIF-8 and maintained 90% activity after 8 cycles of reuse, indicating excellent recyclability and enhanced activity.
