Patient Factors Associated With Clinical Failure Following Arthroscopic Superior Capsular Reconstruction

Ron Gilat et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify factors associated with failure after superior capsular reconstruction (SCR). Female sex and the presence of a subscapularis tear were found to be associated with failure. Factors such as greater BMI, lower preoperative forward flexion, and lower preoperative AHD trended towards association with clinical failure of SCR.

Superior capsular reconstruction using a porcine dermal xenograft for irreparable rotator cuff tears: outcomes at minimum two-year follow-up

Albert Ferrando et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the midterm outcomes of arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) using decellularized porcine dermal xenograft in patients with massive, irreparable rotator cuff tears. It was found that concomitant, repairable subscapularis tears did not influence the surgical outcomes, and the procedure can effectively alleviate pain and disability while improving shoulder function for patients with irreparable cuff tears.

Evaluating the role of graft integrity on outcomes: clinical and imaging results following superior capsular reconstruction

Mark W. LaBelle et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated clinical outcomes and graft integrity in patients undergoing Superior Capsular Reconstruction (SCR). Results showed that while there was a high rate of graft failure, clinical improvement in patients was not significantly affected.

Comparison of Superior Capsular Reconstruction and Partial Infraspinatus Repair: A Matched-Pair Analysis of Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears

Stefan Greiner et al.

Summary: This study compared superior capsular reconstruction with partial repair for the treatment of irreparable rotator cuff tears, and found no significant differences in clinical outcomes between the two techniques after a 2-year follow-up. Further research is needed to determine long-term differences and cost-effectiveness.

Open Latarjet Procedure in Athletes Following Failed Prior Instability Surgery Results in Lower Rates of Return to Play

Martin S. Davey et al.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of competitive athletes undergoing open Latarjet surgery for primary shoulder instability, recurrent instability, and failed prior instability surgery. The results showed similar clinical outcome scores among the three groups, but a lower rate of return to play for patients undergoing surgery due to failed prior stabilization. Additionally, there was no significant difference in the rate of recurrent instability among the groups.
