Light and CO2 Modulate the Accumulation and Localization of Phenolic Compounds in Barley Leaves

Lena Hunt et al.

Summary: The accumulation and localization of phenolic compounds in barley leaves are influenced by light intensity and atmospheric CO2 concentration, with light having a stronger impact on accumulation. Different barley varieties show significant differences in phenolic compound profiles, with more tolerant varieties accumulating more hydroxycinnamic acids. Mesophyll cells are more responsive to environmental stimuli in terms of phenolic compound accumulation compared to epidermal cells.

Contribution of ABA metabolism and ROS generation to sugar starvation-induced senescence of rice leaves

Muhmmad Asad Ullah Asad et al.

Summary: The study investigated the relationship between sugar starvation and ABA-induced ROS generation during leaf senescence using rice genotypes. Results showed that sugar starvation accelerated leaf senescence by enhancing ABA concentration and MDA accumulation, which could be suppressed by exogenous sugar supply. The imbalance between ABA biosynthesis and catabolism played a crucial role in sugar starvation-induced leaf senescence.
