Short-term detrimental impacts of increasing temperature and photosynthetically active radiation on the ecophysiology of selected bryophytes in Hong Kong, southern China

Jiewei Hao et al.

Summary: Bryophytes in tropical forest ecosystems face challenges with intense light and hot temperatures, affecting their photosynthetic activities. A controlled study on six bryophyte species showed that temperature increases and changes in light levels negatively impacted their health, photosynthetic performance, and growth. The chlorophyll a/b ratio, health status, and effective photochemical quantum yield of PS II were important indicators of their responses to environmental stress.
