Brain Training and Sulforaphane Intake Interventions Separately Improve Cognitive Performance in Healthy Older Adults, Whereas a Combination of These Interventions Does Not Have More Beneficial Effects: Evidence from a Randomized Controlled Trial

Rui Nouchi et al.

Summary: This study found that brain training games and sulforaphane intake can improve cognitive functions in older adults, especially processing speed and working memory. However, there were no additional cognitive benefits from the combined intervention.

Enhancing learning in a perceptual-cognitive training paradigm using EEG-neurofeedback

Brendan Parsons et al.

Summary: This study presents a highly efficient closed-loop paradigm that uses real-time brain activity to improve learning performance in a perceptual-cognitive training scenario. Results show significant improvements in learning speed and degree when manipulating tasks using real-time brain signals. Superior performance persists even after the feedback signal is removed, suggesting that this paradigm could address the limitations of neurofeedback and cognitive enhancement techniques.

Neurofeedback and the Aging Brain: A Systematic Review of Training Protocols for Dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment

Lucas R. Trambaiolli et al.

Summary: Neurofeedback training has been explored as a potential complementary treatment for patients with dementia or mild cognitive impairment. While most studies show improved scores in cognitive tests, data from randomized controlled trials are scarce, and clinical evidence based on standardized metrics is still inconclusive.

MRI Predictors of Cognitive Training Outcomes

Ebru Baykara et al.

Summary: The increasing number of cognitive training interventions in recent years has led to discrepancies in research findings due to significant inter-individual differences in training benefits and transfer of gains. Incorporating neural measures in cognitive training studies can help understand the mechanisms behind these differences and predict who will benefit from interventions, leading to the development of tailored intervention programs.
