Solubilization of direct dyes in single and mixed surfactant system: A comparative study

Saira Irshad et al.

Summary: The interaction of direct dyes was investigated in mixed cationic-nonionic surfactant media using spectroscopic analysis. The results showed that using mixed micellar media for solubilization of direct dyes is more advantageous compared to using single surfactants.

Interaction of sulphone based reactive dyes with cationic surfactant: a spectroscopic and conductometric study

Misbah Iram et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between sulphone-based reactive dyes and the cationic micellar system of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) using spectroscopic and conductometric measurements. The results showed that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of CTAB, electrostatic interactions, hydrophobic interactions, and medium polarity played significant roles in this phenomenon. The strong interaction between dye and surfactant molecules was revealed, with dye-2 showing a higher solubilization extent compared to dye-1 due to its strong interaction with the hydrophiles of CTAB.
