Association between antimicrobial usage and resistance in Salmonella from poultry farms in Nigeria

Specifically, backyard-raised chickens consumed higher amounts of antimicrobials compared to other systems, and there was a strong correlation between farm usage and resistance levels of the isolates. Communication of prudent antimicrobial use to farmers and regulation to reduce antimicrobial usage should be prioritized.
