Energy, exergy, and milling performance of parboiled paddy: an industrial LSU dryer

Md. Azadul Islam et al.

Summary: The research investigated the drying of paddy in industrial LSU dryers in major rice processing areas in Bangladesh, focusing on drying characteristics, energy and exergy analysis, and drying efficiency. Results showed drying time of 7.0-10.0 hours, with energy analysis indicating varied specific electrical and thermal energy, and drying efficiency ranging from 50.30% to 59.80%. Exergy efficiency ranged from 43.63% to 67.21%, while head rice yield varied between 50% and 54%. Research suggests potential for improving energetic, exergetic performance and product quality.

Energy and exergy analysis of the drying of corn grains

Gisele Mol da Silva et al.

Summary: A mixed cabin solar dryer with a photovoltaic module for power was designed and tested in Brazil, achieving a faster drying time for corn grains compared to natural sun drying. The dryer also used the PV module to preheat drying air, improving overall efficiency.

Exergetic Evaluation of a Biomass Gasifier operated Reversible Flatbed Dryer for Paddy Drying in Parboiling Process

W. Beno Wincy et al.

Summary: The study designed a pilot-scale reversible flatbed dryer operated with biomass gasifier for drying soaked paddy with high moisture content. Exergy analysis showed that the Hot Air Generator is the most important component for improving system efficiency, and the gasifier unit accounts for over 60% of the total exergy of the system.
