Performance of OLCI Sentinel-3A satellite in the Northeast Pacific coastal waters

Fernanda Giannini et al.

Summary: Coastal oceans are crucial for fisheries production and global biogeochemical cycles, and the use of modern remote sensors like OLCI on Sentinel-3A satellite has enabled higher resolution monitoring. However, validating the retrievals for coastal waters remains challenging. Evaluating OLCI Sentinel-3A performance in British Columbia and Southeast Alaska waters revealed that different algorithms have varying levels of success in retrieving biophysical products, with the POLYMER algorithm showing the best overall performance for TSM and Chl-a products.
