Efficient Production of High Specific Activity Thulium-167 at Paul Scherrer Institute and CERN-MEDICIS

Reinhard Heinke et al.

Summary: Thulium-167 shows promise for nuclear medicine applications, but adequate delivery methods and investigations into radiobiological effects are still needed. This study reports on the production of radionuclidically pure Tm-167 and its mass separation process efficiency at the CERN-MEDICIS facility. The results demonstrate high collection and separation efficiencies, making it a significant advancement in the mass separation of external radionuclide sources at MEDICIS.

Production of Mass-Separated Erbium-169 Towards the First Preclinical in vitro Investigations

Zeynep Talip et al.

Summary: The study focused on enhancing the specific activity of Erbium-169 for receptor-targeted radionuclide therapy through electromagnetic isotope separation technique. By utilizing resonant laser ionization, the separation efficiency was increased while a subsequent chemical purification process was developed to standardize the Er-169 product for radiolabeling and pre-clinical studies. Preliminary in vitro experiments showed the potential of Er-169 in reducing tumor cell viability when used with Er-169-PSMA-617.
