Interleukin-1β-induced pancreatitis promotes pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma via B lymphocyte-mediated immune suppression

Summary: The study demonstrates that IL-1 beta promotes tumorigenesis by inducing an expansion of immune-suppressive B cells. These findings highlight the growing significance of B suppressor cells in pancreatic tumorigenesis.

Differential gene expression in peritumoral brain zone of glioblastoma: role of SERPINA3 in promoting invasion, stemness and radioresistance of glioma cells and association with poor patient prognosis and recurrence

Vidya P. Nimbalkar et al.

Summary: This study molecularly characterized the peritumoral brain zone (PBZ) of glioblastoma (GBM) and investigated the pathobiology of tumor recurrence. The results showed that high expression of SERPINA3 in GBM is associated with tumor invasiveness and adverse clinical outcome.

Survival and biomarker analyses from the OpACIN-neo and OpACIN neoadjuvant immunotherapy trials in stage III melanoma

E. A. Rozeman et al.

Summary: The combination of neoadjuvant ipilimumab plus nivolumab showed high pathologic response rates (pRRs) in patients with macroscopic stage III melanoma. High tumor mutational burden (TMB) and high interferon-gamma-related gene expression signature score (IFN-gamma score) were associated with pathologic response and a low risk of relapse. These findings support the potential predictive value of TMB and IFN-gamma score in the treatment of melanoma patients.

Establishment and experimental validation of an immune miRNA signature for assessing prognosis and immune landscape of patients with colorectal cancer

Zaoqu Liu et al.

Summary: A miRNA prognostic signature (IAMIPS) was developed and validated for evaluating overall survival and inflammatory landscape of CRC patients, proving to be more accurate than traditional clinical stage. Patients in the high-risk group showed worse outcomes and IAMIPS remained a powerful independent predictor for OS even after stratification for clinical factors.

Clinical Significance and Inflammatory Landscape of a Novel Recurrence-Associated Immune Signature in Stage II/III Colorectal Cancer

Zaoqu Liu et al.

Summary: The study developed a novel recurrence-associated immune signature (RAIS) to identify high-risk recurrence patients with stage II/III colorectal cancer. The high-risk group showed a higher mutation rate of TP53, while the low-risk group had a more abundant presence of activated CD4+/CD8+ T cells and higher expression of PD-1/PD-L1. The RAIS model was proven to be highly predictive of recurrence and could potentially optimize decision-making in adjuvant chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as tailor surveillance protocol for individual patients.
