Gauri Salunkhe et al.

Summary: This study investigated the sorption behavior of UO22+, Th4+ and Eu3+ on novel hybrid metalorganic framework composites FeBDC@CoBDC, revealing that the sorption predominantly followed Langmuir isotherm with limited sorption capacity. Multiple contacts of complexing agents were found to be necessary for quantitative elution of f-elements from loaded MOF.

Leaching kinetics of manganese from pyrolusite using pyrite as a reductant under microwave heating

Geng Chen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that under microwave heating, the extraction rate of manganese was significantly higher compared to conventional heating method. The verified leaching data supported this result, and a shift in the rate control step was observed, indicating differences in the leaching mechanism between the two heating methods.

Experimental and density functional theory study of complexing agents on cobalt dissolution in alkaline solutions

Summary: This study predicted the complexing capability of glycine, potassium tartrate, and hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid to cobalt ions through the DFT method, with the results showing that HEDP has the strongest complexing capability. Experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the DFT method, and also indicated that when the oxidation of the Co surface is not a limiting factor, the complexation capability of HEDP is superior to that of glycine.

Efficient removal of diethyl dithiocarbamate with EDTA functionalized electrolytic manganese residue and mechanism exploration

Mengke Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared a novel adsorbent by modifying electrolytic manganese residue (EMR), which showed promising adsorption capacity for diethyl dithiocarbamate (DDTC). The adsorption process was found to be mainly controlled by chemisorption on EDTA-EMR, and the mechanism exploration revealed the crucial sorption and chelation sites. High pH value was found to inhibit the adsorption capacity, and the as-synthesized adsorbents showed excellent performance after multiple cycles. Overall, EDTA-EMR is a low-cost, recyclable and effective adsorbent for DDTC removal.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the combined effect of a complexing agent (NTA) and an inhibitor (TT-LYK) in the development of polishing slurries with excellent performances. Experimental and analytical results demonstrated that NTA is an effective copper complexing agent, while TT-LYK has a better corrosion inhibition effect under static conditions. Various analyses and simulations revealed the influences and interaction mechanisms of the two on the copper surface.

An innovative method for fractionally removing high concentrations of Ni2+, PO43-, TP, COD, and NH4+-N from printed-circuit-board nickel plating wastewater

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, an innovative method was employed to fractionally reduce high concentrations of nickel, phosphorus, total phosphorus, chemical oxygen demand, and ammonia nitrogen from printed circuit-board nickel plating wastewater. The removal efficiencies of these pollutants using electrochemical deposition, CaO-enabled complex dissociation, and Fenton oxidation were studied, with Ni2+, PO43-, TP, COD, and NH4+-N showing removal efficiencies of 99.99%, 99.97%, 99.70%, 98.16%, and 99.43% respectively. Economic evaluation determined the cost of treatment to be 136.604 $/m(-3), and the treated wastewater could be directly discharged to an industrial park.
