Exergetic and economic optimization of a solar-based cogeneration system applicable for desalination and power production

Summary: The research examined the optimal operation of a combined cycle power plant that generates water and electricity using parabolic solar collectors. Results showed that increasing desalination effects led to higher electricity generation costs and increased interest rates for freshwater production. This optimization improved exergy efficiency by 1.74%.

Summary: The study found that the multigeneration system using R141b as the operating fluid for the ORC is the most cost-effective for electricity generation and water supply, but also generates the highest pollution. On the other hand, the system using R600 as the operating fluid is the most environmentally friendly, but has the lowest electricity generation and highest production cost. Overall, the multigeneration system with R141b is the best option.
