Heat transfer efficiency and electrical performance evaluation of photovoltaic unit under influence of NEPCM

Mohammadjavad Khodadadi et al.

Summary: In this study, the design of a PVT unit with phase change material (PCM) is analyzed to assess its efficiency under different concentrations of nanofluids and non-encapsulated phase change materials (NEPCMs). The effects of flow rates, solar radiation intensities, and multilayers of PCMs are also evaluated. Furthermore, a comparison study is conducted to assess the impact of integrating a thermoelectric (TE) module with the PVT system. The simulation is performed using the enthalpy-porosity approach and a transient solver with a pressure-based finite volume method. The results show that increasing the flow rate of coolant and the concentration of NEPCM can enhance the charging rate but may slightly decrease the temperature.

Modification for helical turbulator to augment heat transfer behavior of nanomaterial via numerical approach

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: In engineering fields, using tapes with various configurations can improve the efficiency of heat exchangers and address the current challenges of energy demand. Employing helical tapes can increase flow resistance but also enhance heat transfer efficiency and Nusselt number compared to traditional designs. By increasing tape width and Reynolds number, thermal irreversibility can be reduced, leading to improved system efficiency.

Numerical simulation of effect of non-uniform solar irradiation on nanofluid turbulent flow

M. Sheikholeslami et al.

Summary: In current modeling, solar collectors are analyzed based on collector efficiency and irreversibility, while also taking into account variable solar irradiation. The best design should consider efficiency, irreversibility, and performance factor, with irreversibility decreasing with higher wind speeds and increasing with higher inlet temperatures. Additionally, frictional irreversibility increases with higher inlet temperatures.
