Hybrid sorption-vapor compression cooling systems: A comprehensive overview

Mohamed G. Gado et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the integration of absorption, adsorption and desiccant cooling technologies into vapor compression systems, studying different configurations based on energetic, exergetic, economic and environmental analysis. The hybrid systems show potential for reducing electricity consumption and enhancing performance by lowering condensation temperatures. Results indicate that oversized adsorption cooling systems can improve performance, while downscaled ones may worsen it. The integration of vapor compression with solid and liquid desiccant cycles can operate efficiently at lower regeneration temperatures, with integrated liquid desiccant-vapor compression systems providing cooling below dew point with energy provision.

Effects of ambient conditions on solar assisted heat pump systems: a review

Kutbay Sezen et al.

Summary: Solar assisted heat pump (SAHP) systems aim to improve heat pump performance by utilizing solar energy in various heating modes that depend on ambient conditions. The study classified SAHP systems by structure types and investigated the effect of ambient conditions on heating modes to identify preferable conditions for each system. The research found that high solar irradiation benefits parallel and series IDX-SAHP systems with direct solar heating mode, while frost prevention on evaporator is achieved in DX-SAHP systems with solar-air source heat pump mode.
