Phage-Encoded Endolysins

Fatma Abdelrahman et al.

Summary: Endolysins have emerged as a potential alternative therapeutic approach against antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections, showing promising results in laboratory settings. However, further research is needed to understand their resistance, safety, and immunogenicity for in-vivo application.

Bacteriophage Cocktails Protect Dairy Cows Against Mastitis Caused By Drug Resistant Escherichia coli Infection

Mengting Guo et al.

Summary: The study isolated three lytic phages from sewage of dairy farm, showing broad host range and high efficiency against E. coli. Phage cocktail significantly reduced bacterial number, somatic cells, and inflammatory factors in a mastitis infected cow model, achieving the same effect as antibiotic treatment. Overall, phage cocktail may be a promising alternative therapy against mastitis caused by drug resistant E. coli.
