Different Dietary N-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Formulations Distinctively Modify Tissue Fatty Acid and N-Acylethanolamine Profiles

Elisabetta Murru et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of different dietary formulations of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) on tissue fatty acid (FA) incorporation and consequent modulation of their bioactive metabolite N-acylethanolamines (NAE). The results showed that different dietary n-3 PUFA had distinct effects on tissue FA profiles and NAE tissue concentrations. Additionally, correlation analyses suggested that NAE levels in plasma might reflect their concentrations in specific tissues.

Milk Fatty Acid Profiles in Different Animal Species: Focus on the Potential Effect of Selected PUFAs on Metabolism and Brain Functions

Maria P. Mollica et al.

Summary: This review highlights the nutritional qualities of essential fatty acids in milk, particularly omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, and discusses their impact on metabolism and the central nervous system. It also explores how animal feeding practices can influence milk fat composition and quality. Additionally, the review presents in vivo studies supporting the benefits of milk FA intake in animal models and considers factors limiting the transferability of these benefits to humans.
