Intercellular Communication in the Heart: Therapeutic Opportunities for Cardiac Ischemia

Tania Martins-Marques et al.

Summary: Cell-to-cell communication plays a crucial role in maintaining tissue homeostasis, and disruptions in this communication have been implicated in harmful consequences of heart ischemia and reperfusion, such as arrhythmias and heart failure. Targeting intercellular communication mechanisms may offer potential therapeutic strategies to prevent or repair these consequences and restore myocardial function.

Ferroptosis Is a Potential Novel Diagnostic and Therapeutic Target for Patients With Cardiomyopathy

Zhenyu Zhai et al.

Summary: Ferroptosis, a recently discovered iron-dependent programmed cell death pathway, plays a significant role in cardiovascular diseases. Research has shown that blocking the ferroptosis pathways can alleviate myocardial injury. Therefore, ferroptosis may be a novel diagnostic and therapeutic target for patients suffering from cardiomyopathy in the future.
