Pharmacological Evaluation of Novel Organoiron Dendrimers as Antimicrobial and Anti-Inflammatory Agents

Alaa S. Abd-El-Aziz et al.

Summary: Novel nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial organoiron dendrimers attached to ibuprofen were synthesized and evaluated. These dendrimers showed higher inhibitory activity against certain bacterial strains and demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activities in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Russelioside B; A pregnane glycoside for treatment of gastric ulcer via modulation of heat shock protein-70 and vascular endothelial growth factor

Riham A. El-Shiekh et al.

Summary: Russelioside B showed gastroprotective action through multi mechanistic actions, including suppression of gastric oxidative stress, inflammation, anti-apoptotic activities, and enhanced gastric mucosal protection by up-regulation of endothelial growth factor, normalization of heat shock protein-70, and prostaglandin E2. These actions were comparable to some classical antiulcer drugs such as Antodine.

Applications of Dendrimers in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery: A Review

Mohammad Nikzamir et al.

Summary: Dendrimers are hyper-branched organic compounds with functional groups on the surface that can be modified for enhanced functionality. They possess unique properties such as nanoscale size, globular shape, high reactivity, and water solubility, making them promising for drug delivery applications. Dendrimers can serve as carriers for therapeutic agents, reducing drug toxicity and increasing efficacy, and have received significant attention from researchers in the field of nanomedicine.

Aspirin as an Antifungal-Lock Agent in Inhibition of Candidal Biofilm Formation in Surgical Catheters

Alice Kit Ying Chan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the anti-biofilm effect of aspirin on Candida biofilms and found that C. albicans was the most sensitive species towards aspirin, which could effectively eradicate the biofilm at a concentration of 40 mg/mL in 4 hours. Aspirin at the same concentration could eradicate biofilms of other tested species in 24 hours. These results suggest that aspirin may be used as an anti-fungal agent in lock therapy for the treatment of catheter-related candidemia.
