Epstein-Barr Virus miR-BART1-3p Regulates the miR-17-92 Cluster by Targeting E2F3

Myung Chan Park et al.

Summary: The EBV-associated miRNA miR-BART1-3p plays a role in cell cycle regulation and cell growth by targeting E2F3. Moreover, miR-BART1-3p may also affect the expression of the miR-17-92 cluster by downregulating E2F3.

Is EBV Associated with Breast Cancer in Specific Geographic Locations?

Alison J. Sinclair et al.

Summary: Epstein-Barr virus is a virus that establishes lifelong infection in people and is nearly ubiquitous by adulthood. It is associated with some cancers such as Burkitt's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, gastric carcinoma, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. There are controversial links between EBV and breast cancer, as the widespread infection with EBV contrasts with the relatively rare development of cancer, making it difficult to determine its role as an aetiological agent.

Whole-genome profiling of nasopharyngeal carcinoma reveals viral-host co-operation in inflammatory NF-κB activation and immune escape

Jeff P. Bruce et al.

Summary: This study performed whole-genome sequencing for 70 NPCs with EBV gene expression, revealing the collaborative effects of genomic aberrations and EBV infection in NPC development, as well as the impact of EBV-mediated effects on NF-kappa B activation and immune escape. Furthermore, homozygous MTAP deletions were identified as a potential target for therapy in a subset of NPC cases.
