Fluid biomarkers in frontotemporal dementia: past, present and future

Imogen Joanna Swift et al.

Summary: The frontotemporal dementia (FTD) spectrum is a group of neurodegenerative disorders with significant advances in understanding the disease's pathological and genetic foundations. Biomarker studies have increased in the past decade, focusing on differentiating FTD from other dementias. While markers for Alzheimer's disease have been successfully developed, specific markers for primary tauopathies or TDP-43 proteinopathies are still lacking.
