TNF in the era of immune checkpoint inhibitors: friend or foe?

Allen Y. Chen et al.

Summary: TNF inhibitors are commonly used to treat immune-related adverse events induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors, and evidence suggests that short courses of TNF inhibitors are safe for treating these events in cancer patients undergoing ICI therapy. Preclinical studies hint that TNF inhibition might enhance the antitumour effect of ICI therapy while ameliorating immune-related adverse events.

High tumor mutation burden fails to predict immune checkpoint blockade response across all cancer types

D. J. McGrail et al.

Summary: Analysis of over 10,000 patient tumors from The Cancer Genome Atlas showed that TMB-H tumors had significantly higher response rates to immune checkpoint blockade in certain cancer types, while showing no significant benefit in others. These results do not support the use of TMB-H as a biomarker for ICB treatment across all solid cancer types, indicating the need for further tumor type-specific studies.

High Level of METTL7B Indicates Poor Prognosis of Patients and Is Related to Immunity in Glioma

Yujia Xiong et al.

Summary: The study revealed that high expression of METTL7B in glioma is associated with poor prognosis, and there are significant differences in immune scores and immune cell infiltration between patients with different levels of METTL7B expression. In addition, METTL7B may promote the progression of glioma cells by modulating immune checkpoints.

Effects of 1p/19q Codeletion on Immune Phenotype in Low Grade Glioma

Lei Lv et al.

Summary: 1p/19q codeletion is closely associated with the immunosuppressive microenvironment in LGGs, leading to decreased immune cell infiltration and lower expression of immune checkpoint genes compared to non-codeletion cases. The presence of immune-related genes on chromosome 1p or 19q, positively correlated with DNA copy number, regulate immune cell infiltration and expression of immune checkpoint genes in tumors. These findings may have implications for investigating immune evasion in LGGs and designing immunotherapeutic strategies for patients.

Knockdown of Annexin-A1 Inhibits Growth, Migration and Invasion of Glioma Cells by Suppressing the PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway

Liqing Wei et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that ANXA1 regulates proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells via the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Down-regulation of ANXA1 inhibits cell proliferation, induces apoptosis, reduces tumor growth rate and weight, and causes G2/M phase arrest.
