Electronic properties and spintronic applications of r-N-graphyne nanoribbons

Chengke Xu et al.

Summary: Using density functional theory (DFT) and non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF), this study investigates the electronic band structures and transport properties of zigzag rhombic N-graphyne nanoribbons (ZrNGYNRs). The results reveal metallic band structures in ZrNGYNRs with different symmetries and distinct spin splitting in the ferromagnetic state, suggesting potential applications in nanoelectronics.

All-Carbon Negative Differential Resistance Nanodevice Using a Single Flake of Nanoporous Graphene

Reza Rahighi et al.

Summary: The study involved the preparation and investigation of a temperature-induced degenerate p-type graphene nanopore/reduced graphene oxide (GNP/rGO) heterojunction-based nanodevice, exhibiting a robust negative differential resistance (NDR) feature. Cellulose-based perforated graphene foams (PGFs) containing numerous nanopores and showing essential p-type semiconducting characteristics were synthesized, with an observed stable and reversible NDR peak at high temperatures. The involvement of O-2 gas in the ambient environment in water-based degeneration of the initial p-type regions around the GNPs led to the appearance of an intensive quantum tunneling NDR peak.

Atomically precise graphene nanoribbons: interplay of structural and electronic properties

R. S. Koen Houtsma et al.

Summary: Graphene nanoribbons show great potential for future applications in nanoelectronic devices by combining excellent electronic properties with tunability through precise control over width and edge structure. Research has led to a variety of graphene nanoribbons with different properties, highlighting the importance of precursor design in determining final electronic structure. The ability to fine-tune properties through precursor design has generated significant research interest and potential for future applications, as demonstrated by selected device prototypes.
