The LOFAR Two-meter Sky Survey: Deep Fields Data Release 1: I. Direction-dependent calibration and imaging

C. Tasse et al.

Summary: The Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) is an ideal instrument for deep extragalactic surveys due to its large field of view and sensitivity to both large-scale and compact emission. However, synthesizing thermal noise limited maps at full resolution remains challenging due to the complexity of the low-frequency sky and direction dependent effects. This paper introduces a new calibration and imaging pipeline to produce high fidelity, high dynamic range images with LOFAR High Band Antenna data while addressing computational efficiency and robustness against unmodeled radio emission.

Low-frequency monitoring of flare star binary CR Draconis: long-term electron-cyclotron maser emission

J. R. Callingham et al.

Summary: Recently detected low-frequency radio emission from M dwarf systems shows similarities with emission from gas giant planets in our Solar System, possibly driven by interactions between a rotating plasma disk and a stellar magnetosphere. A study on the M dwarf binary CR Draconis reveals a high detection rate of bright radio bursts with distinctive features, providing insights into the nature of the emission.

Large closed-field corona of WX Ursae Majoris evidenced from radio observations

I Davis et al.

Summary: The study highlights the significant impact of space-weather conditions caused by stellar winds on the habitability of exoplanets. Low frequency radio observations can probe the magneto-ionic conditions of plasma and cyclotron emission from stars. The results suggest that the magnetic-field structure of M dwarfs lies between Sun-like and planet-like configurations.
