Enhanced selectivity and stability of Pt-Ge/Al2O3 catalysts by Ca promotion in propane dehydrogenation

Sajjad Rimaz et al.

Summary: The addition of Ca reduced the acid centers of Al2O3 and increased the degree of alloy formation, leading to enhanced propylene selectivity and catalyst stability. The Ca-promoted catalyst showed lower deactivation rate and higher residual activity compared to the non-promoted catalyst, resulting in better performance in terms of activity and selectivity at steady state conditions.

Synergy between Metallic and Oxidized Pt Sites Unravelled during Room Temperature CO Oxidation on Pt/Ceria

Frederic C. Meunier et al.

Summary: Experimental results show that metallic and oxidized Pt exist in similar proportions on the surface of nanoparticles at 30 degrees C under reaction conditions. The metallic Pt phase provides strong adsorption sites for CO, while the oxidized Pt phase supplies reactive oxygen, enabling a synergy between these phases.

Non-oxidative propane dehydrogenation over alumina-supported Co-V oxide catalysts

Namgi Jeon et al.

Summary: The presence of V component enhances the catalytic performance of alumina-supported Co-V oxide catalysts for propane dehydrogenation by improving the reducibility of Co nanoparticles and increasing the surface concentration of metallic Co species. The results suggest that V component plays a significant role in modifying the properties of Co oxides and improving their catalytic performance.

Tailoring the Reactive Oxygen Species in Mesoporous NiO for Selectivity-Controlled Aerobic Oxidation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural on a Loaded Pt Catalyst

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: A mesoporous NiO-supported Pt nanoparticle catalyst demonstrated efficient and sustainable conversion of HMF to FDCA without the need for a base. By tailoring the reactive oxygen species in NiO, the initial reaction rate of HMF and product distribution could be effectively controlled. The interaction between metallic Pt active sites and mobile oxygen species was crucial for the excellent catalytic performance observed.

Propane dehydrogenation: catalyst development, new chemistry, and emerging technologies

Sai Chen et al.

Summary: The review discusses recent advances in understanding the PDH process, including emerging technologies, catalyst development, and new chemistry for regulating catalyst structures and inhibiting catalyst deactivation. Analysis and discussion on active sites, reaction pathways, and deactivation mechanisms of PDH over metals and metal oxides, as well as their dependent factors, are provided to enable efficient catalyst design for minimizing reaction barriers and controlling selectivity towards propylene. Challenges and perspectives of PDH over heterogeneous catalysts are also proposed for further development.
