Unprofitability of small biogas plants without subsidies in the Brandenburg region

Judith Gonzalez-Arias et al.

Summary: An economic analysis of upgrading biogas to biomethane in the Brandenburg region of Germany reveals that medium and large plants are profitable, while the smallest plants require further economic efforts or subsidies to reach profitability. Political actions such as green policies and subsidies are crucial to implementing green energy initiatives.

Assessment of electricity generation from biogas in Benin from energy and economic viability perspectives

Johnson Herlich Roslee Mensah et al.

Summary: The key factors of energy and sanitation are crucial for economic development and quality of life for any nation's population. Challenges faced by less developed nations like Benin can be potentially overcome with sewage treatment plants with biogas energy recovery. However, the projects highlighted in the study were deemed unfeasible economically due to high implementation costs, leading to the consideration of mandatory energy rates to ensure return on investment. Results obtained can be used for future research and decision making in Benin's energy and sanitation sectors.

State and development of anaerobic technology for biogas production in Syria

Raed Jafar et al.

Summary: In the last few decades, there has been an increase in the use of biogas technology worldwide, including domestic biogas digesters. However, in developing countries like Syria, the adoption of biogas technology on a large scale remains a challenge. Factors such as temperature, pH, cow manure input, and hydraulic retention time play a significant role in the productivity of small-scale biogas installations. Disseminating biogas technology can help address rural biogas supply issues and reduce reliance on timber, leading to improved environmental protection in Syria.
