Changes in selected physico-chemical properties of floodplain soils in three different land-use types after flooding

Ivan Suchara et al.

Summary: This article examines the impact of a flood on soil properties and finds that the flood had relatively minor effects on the soil properties due to its short duration and low dynamic power. Despite a thin accumulation of organic-clay material on the soil surface after the flood, there were no significant increases in total carbon content in the topsoil. However, significant increases in total carbon content in subsoils of all plot types suggest vertical migration of non-dissolved organic carbon during the flood.

Organic Matter Properties of Spent Button Mushroom Substrate in the Context of Soil Organic Matter Reproduction

Marcin Becher et al.

Summary: The study confirmed that spent mushroom substrates have the potential to enrich soils in organic matter, nitrogen, and carbonates. The qualitative properties of organic matter were found to be related to the high share of labile organic compounds. Humic acids displayed similar properties regardless of their origins.

Dissolved organic matter in agricultural soils

Bozena Smreczak et al.

Summary: The dissolved organic matter (DOM) in agricultural soils plays a crucial role in soil processes, but its transformation is influenced by various factors, making it challenging to predict and control. Its potential in reaching goals related to soil protection, ecosystem services, climate change mitigation, and organic carbon sequestration highlights the importance of further research in this area.
