Energy Absorption in Actual Tractor Rollovers with Different Tire Configurations

Enrico Capacci et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the energy absorbed by a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) cab during controlled lateral rollover testing on a modern narrow-track tractor. Tests with different wheel configurations show that narrow tires consistently subject the ROPS cab frame to more energy compared to wide tires. Further understanding of the influence of tire configurations and silent-blocks' dynamic performance on energy partitioning is warranted.
