Micronucleated erythrocytes in peripheral blood from neonate rats fed by nursing mothers exposed to X-rays

Alejandro Solorzano-Melendez et al.

Summary: The study showed that lactating rat pups had increased micronucleated erythrocytes in their blood when mothers were irradiated with X-rays, possibly due to the formation of long-lived reactive species in the breast milk. The addition of vitamin C provided some protection in both mother rats and pups exposed to radiation.

Cytogenotoxicity Evaluation of Young Adults Exposed to High Levels of Air Pollution in a Mexican Metropolitan Zone Using Buccal Micronucleus Cytome Assay

Ana Elizabeth Gonzalez-Santiago et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects in healthy young adults exposed to different levels of air pollution using the buccal micronucleus cytome (BMC) assay. Results showed that individuals exposed to higher concentrations of pollutants exhibited increased frequencies of nuclear abnormalities, with significant cytotoxic and genotoxic damage observed in highly contaminated areas compared to less polluted areas.
