Molecular and functional characaterization of the novel odorant-binding protein gene AccOBP10 from Apis cerana cerana

Dezheng Guo et al.

Summary: This study isolated and identified an odorant-binding protein gene (AccOBP10) from Apis cerana cerana and found that it is mainly involved in response to stress conditions. The expression of AccOBP10 was upregulated by various stress factors and knockdown of AccOBP10 could slightly increase the expression levels of stress-related genes, suggesting a potential role for OBPs beyond odor perception and transport in insects.

Identification and functional characterization of AcerOBP15 from Apis cerana cerana (Hymenoptera: Apidae)

Yali Du et al.

Summary: Coordination in honeybees heavily relies on their chemoreception system, particularly on odorant-binding proteins (OBPs). The study on AcerOBP15 reveals its dual role in olfactory and gustatory reception during foraging, shedding light on the theoretical foundation for further understanding the mechanism of chemoreception in A. cerana cerana.
