Cascade Learning Embedded Vision Inspection of Rail Fastener by Using a Fault Detection IoT Vehicle

Jianwei Liu et al.

Summary: This article proposes a cascade learning embedded vision inspection method for rail fasteners based on the deep convolutional neural network (DCNN). The method consists of two steps: region position and fault detection. A modified single shot multibox detector (SSD) model is used to locate the fastener regions, and a key component detection (KCD) method based on the improved faster region convolutional neural network (RCNN) is proposed for fault detection. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an average precision of 95.38% and an average recall of 98.62% in fastener detection, outperforming manual operation.
