Cause-Specific Mortality Among Survivors From T1N0M0 Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Registry-Based Cohort Study

Summary: The detection of T1N0M0 renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has increased and prognosis has improved, but there is still a superficial focus on non-RCC-related mortality. This study found that heart disease, diabetes, and cerebrovascular disease were the primary causes of non-RCC-related mortality within the first year after diagnosis, with heart disease becoming the leading cause of death over 5 years after diagnosis. Targeted prevention strategies for non-RCC-related causes of death could significantly reduce mortality for RCC survivors.
