Serum Metabolic Profiling Analysis of Chronic Gastritis and Gastric Cancer by Untargeted Metabolomics

Lin Yu et al.

Summary: This study revealed that lipid metabolism may play a crucial role in the progression from chronic gastritis to gastric cancer. Hexadecasphinganine, linoleamide, and N-Hydroxy arachidonoyl amine were identified as candidate diagnostic markers for chronic gastritis and gastric cancer. Additionally, changes in serum lipid levels, including total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and apolipoprotein A1, were observed with disease progression.

Biomarkers in Prostate Cancer Diagnosis: From Current Knowledge to the Role of Metabolomics and Exosomes

Stefano Salciccia et al.

Summary: Early detection of prostate cancer relies on PSA levels, but it lacks the ability to distinguish between benign and clinically significant forms of the disease. New urinary and serum biomarkers have been developed, but specific guidelines on their use are currently lacking.

Serum Metabolic Profiling Identifies a Biomarker Panel for Improvement of Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Huan Xu et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify and validate a biomarker panel through serum metabolic profiling for the improvement of prostate cancer diagnosis. The discovered metabolite biomarker panel showed a good diagnostic performance for detecting prostate cancer and significantly improved the detection of prostate cancer. It was able to effectively differentiate prostate cancer patients from control patients, showing a significant diagnostic improvement in prostate cancer detection.

Advances and Perspectives in Prostate Cancer Biomarker Discovery in the Last 5 Years through Tissue and Urine Metabolomics

Ana Rita Lima et al.

Summary: Prostate cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer in men worldwide. Metabolomics studies have found consistent alterations in specific metabolites in prostate cancer tissue and urine, suggesting the potential for novel biomarker discovery. Valencia, taurine, leucine, and citrate were found to be commonly altered in both urine and tissue studies, indicating a promising strategy for prostate cancer diagnosis.

Metabolomic Analysis Uncovers Energy Supply Disturbance as an Underlying Mechanism of the Development of Alcohol-Associated Liver Cirrhosis

Ying Huang et al.

Summary: The untargeted serum metabolomic analysis revealed metabolic fingerprints associated with the development and progression of alcoholic cirrhosis, suggesting a disturbance in metabolites related to cellular energy supply as an underlying mechanism. These metabolic fingerprints include metabolites in lipid metabolism, amino acid pathways, and intermediary metabolites in the tricarboxylic acid cycle.
