Neuronal Differentiation from Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Neurospheres by the Application of Oxidized Alginate-Gelatin-Laminin Hydrogels

Summary: Biodegradable hydrogels composed of oxidized alginate, gelatin, and laminin promote neuronal differentiation and growth of human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) derived neurospheres in three-dimensional (3D) culture. The addition of laminin to the hydrogels enhances neuron migration from neurospheres to the bulk matrix, leading to a significant increase in the number of migrated neurons. This study highlights the importance of laminin in tailoring oxidized alginate-gelatin hydrogels for 3D neuronal cell culture applications.
